how to
Connect to your treadmill
Use this guide when you want Kinni to scan for, connect to, and confirm a supported Bluetooth treadmill before a run.
Use this guide when you want Kinni to connect to a supported Bluetooth treadmill before a run or treadmill workout.
Kinni connects through supported treadmill Bluetooth services, not through the phone’s generic Bluetooth pairing screen. Supported paths include FTMS / Fitness Machine treadmills and supported FitShow-style treadmill services.
Before you connect
Section titled “Before you connect”- Power on the treadmill and keep your phone near the treadmill console.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- Grant Kinni Bluetooth permissions if your phone asks.
- On Android, grant location permission if the phone requires it for Bluetooth scanning.
- Close other treadmill apps and disconnect other phones, tablets, or watches that may already be connected to the treadmill.
- Wake the treadmill if it has gone to sleep.
Connect from Run devices
Section titled “Connect from Run devices”- Open Go Run or the run setup screen for the workout you want to run.
- Under Run devices, tap the Treadmill card.
- On Scan & connect, tap Scan.
- Wait for your treadmill to appear in the scan list.
- Tap Connect on the treadmill card.
- Return to the run setup screen.
- Confirm the Treadmill card shows the connected treadmill.
What Kinni scans for
Section titled “What Kinni scans for”Kinni looks for Bluetooth services it can use for treadmill data or control:
- FTMS / Fitness Machine Service on compatible treadmills
- supported FitShow-style treadmill services, including supported legacy NoblePro-style paths
If a treadmill only exposes Bluetooth audio, generic Bluetooth pairing, a heart-rate accessory connection, or a brand-only app link, it may not appear in Kinni’s treadmill scan.
After the treadmill connects
Section titled “After the treadmill connects”Start the run from Kinni where possible. This gives Kinni the best chance of receiving treadmill data from the start of the session.
Depending on the treadmill, Kinni may receive speed, incline, distance, time, workout state, cadence, or heart-rate data. Some treadmills can also accept speed or incline changes from Kinni during a supported run or workout.
If you leave the run setup screen and come back later, Kinni may try to reconnect to your last treadmill automatically.
If connection fails
Section titled “If connection fails”- Start a fresh scan; treadmill scans stop automatically after a short period.
- Make sure the treadmill is awake and close to your phone.
- Make sure the treadmill is not already connected to another app or device.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on again on your phone.
- Restart the treadmill’s Bluetooth or pairing mode if the treadmill has one.
- If the treadmill still does not appear, check whether the model supports FTMS or a supported FitShow-style treadmill service.
