how to
Health Connect and Apple Health
Use this guide when you want Kinni sessions to move between Kinni and Apple Health or Health Connect.
Apple Health and Health Connect are phone health stores. Kinni can use them to import supported workout history and export completed Kinni sessions, depending on your platform and permissions.
Use Apple Health on iPhone. Use Health Connect on Android.
Connect your health platform
Section titled “Connect your health platform”- In Kinni, open Profile.
- Under Connected apps & devices, tap Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android.
- Tap Connect.
- Allow Kinni the requested workout read and write access.
- Return to Kinni and check the Current status section.
The connection screen shows Connection status, Workout access, Import access, Export access, Sync status, Last import, Last export, and any recent sync error.
Choose sync options
Section titled “Choose sync options”After the health platform is connected, Kinni shows two sync options:
- Auto-upload to Apple Health / Health Connect: exports completed Kinni sessions to the phone health store.
- Import history: imports supported workouts from the phone health store into Kinni.
Use Run initial sync the first time you connect. Use Sync now later when you want Kinni to refresh import and export status immediately.
What Kinni imports
Section titled “What Kinni imports”Kinni imports supported health workouts that have enough detailed workout data to be useful in Kinni. Current import coverage is focused on:
- outdoor running
- treadmill running
- walking
Kinni skips workouts that were originally exported by Kinni so they are not imported back as duplicates. Kinni also skips unsupported activity types and summary-only health workouts that do not include enough sample data for Kinni’s session views.
What Kinni exports
Section titled “What Kinni exports”When auto-upload is enabled, Kinni can export completed Kinni sessions to the current health platform. Kinni does not export a session back to the same health platform if that session was originally imported from that platform.
If a session has no detailed records, Kinni may skip health export for that session because the health platform needs a usable workout record.
If two apps disagree
Section titled “If two apps disagree”Check which app recorded the original workout and which app received an imported or exported copy. Metrics can change when a workout moves between systems because each platform stores a different level of detail.
