Troubleshoot health sync
Use this troubleshooting guide when Apple Health or Health Connect is not connected, import/export permissions need attention, or Kinni shows a health-sync error.
Use this guide when Apple Health or Health Connect does not connect, Kinni says permissions need attention, or import/export does not behave as expected.
Check the status in Kinni
Section titled “Check the status in Kinni”- Open Profile.
- Under Connected apps & devices, tap Apple Health or Health Connect.
- Check Current status.
- Review Connection status, Workout access, Import access, Export access, Sync status, Last import, Last export, and any error message.
If Kinni says the platform is not available on this device, use the correct platform for your phone: Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android.
Permissions need attention
Section titled “Permissions need attention”If Kinni shows Permissions need attention or missing import/export access:
- Tap Settings from the health connection screen.
- Open Kinni’s Apple Health or Health Connect permissions.
- Allow workout read access if you want Kinni to import history.
- Allow workout write access if you want Kinni to export completed sessions.
- Return to Kinni and use Sync now.
On Android, if Health Connect does not open Kinni permissions directly, open Health Connect App permissions and select Kinni.
Import history is missing workouts
Section titled “Import history is missing workouts”Kinni may skip a health workout when:
- the activity is not a supported running, treadmill running, or walking workout
- the workout is summary-only and does not include detailed sample data
- the workout was originally exported by Kinni, so importing it back would create a duplicate
- Kinni cannot check the cloud copy yet and defers the import until cloud lookup succeeds
Use Sync now after permissions and network access are available.
Auto-upload did not export a session
Section titled “Auto-upload did not export a session”Kinni may skip export when:
- Auto-upload to Apple Health / Health Connect is turned off
- export permission is not granted
- the session came from the same health platform already
- the session has no detailed records to export
- the health platform returned an error during sync
Turn on Auto-upload, allow write access, then use Sync now.
Health sync failed or was deferred
Section titled “Health sync failed or was deferred”If Kinni shows Health sync failed or says workouts were deferred until cloud lookup succeeds:
- Check your internet connection.
- Confirm you are signed in to Kinni.
- Return to the health connection screen.
- Tap Sync now.
- If the same error remains, include the exact message when asking for support.
