how to

Connect to your heart-rate monitor

Use this guide when you want Kinni to find and connect to your heart-rate monitor.

Use this guide when you want Kinni to find and connect a Bluetooth heart-rate monitor before a run.

  • Wear or wake the monitor if it only advertises while it has skin contact.
  • Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Grant Kinni Bluetooth permissions if your phone asks.
  • Disconnect the monitor from other apps, watches, bike computers, or phones that may already be using it.
  1. Open Go Run in Kinni.
  2. In Run devices, tap Heart rate monitor.
  3. On Scan & connect, tap Scan.
  4. Wait for your monitor to appear in the list.
  5. Tap the monitor card to connect.
  6. Return to Go Run and confirm the Heart rate monitor card shows the connected device.

When Kinni connects, it saves the monitor as your last heart-rate monitor and can try to reconnect next time.

If your treadmill already provides heart rate

Some connected treadmills can send heart-rate data. When that source is active, the Heart rate monitor card says Using your treadmill heart rate sensor.

To use a separate monitor instead, tap the close button on the Heart rate monitor card to disconnect the treadmill heart-rate source, then open Scan & connect and scan for your monitor.

On Go Run, tap the close button on the connected Heart rate monitor card. You can also open Scan & connect and disconnect the connected monitor from its device card.

  • Make sure the monitor is awake and being worn if required.
  • Check that the monitor supports Bluetooth heart-rate broadcasting, not ANT+ only.
  • Disconnect it from other apps or devices.
  • Stop and start the scan again; scans stop automatically after a short period.
  • Replace or charge the monitor battery if it advertises inconsistently.
  • If Bluetooth is off, turn it on and reopen the scan screen.

Kinni uses the Bluetooth Heart Rate Service measurement feed and records BPM values. It does not currently show every advanced heart-rate profile field, such as RR intervals, energy expended, body sensor location, or sensor-contact detail.
