how to
Connect a foot pod
Use this guide when you want Kinni to scan for and connect a foot pod.
Use this guide when you want Kinni to connect to a Bluetooth foot pod before a run.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Wake the foot pod according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Some sensors need movement before they advertise.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- Grant Kinni Bluetooth permissions if your phone asks.
- Disconnect the foot pod from other apps, watches, or phones that may already be using it.
- Confirm the sensor supports Bluetooth Running Speed and Cadence. ANT+ only foot pods should not appear in Kinni.
Connect the foot pod
Section titled “Connect the foot pod”- Open Go Run in Kinni.
- In Run devices, tap Foot pod.
- On Scan & connect, tap Scan.
- Wait for your foot pod to appear in the list.
- Tap the foot pod card to connect.
- Return to Go Run and confirm the Foot pod card shows the connected device.
When Kinni connects, it saves the foot pod as your last foot pod and can try to reconnect next time.
If your treadmill already provides cadence
Section titled “If your treadmill already provides cadence”Some connected treadmills can provide cadence and step data. When that source is active, the Foot pod card says Using your treadmill cadence sensor.
To use a separate foot pod instead, tap the close button on the Foot pod card to disconnect the treadmill cadence source, then open Scan & connect and scan for your foot pod.
Disconnect a foot pod
Section titled “Disconnect a foot pod”On Go Run, tap the close button on the connected Foot pod card. You can also open Scan & connect and disconnect the connected foot pod from its device card.
If the foot pod does not appear
Section titled “If the foot pod does not appear”- Move or wake the sensor so it starts advertising.
- Make sure it is not connected to another app or watch.
- Check that the sensor supports Bluetooth Running Speed and Cadence, not ANT+ only.
- Stop and start the scan again; scans stop automatically after a short period.
- Replace or charge the battery if advertising is unreliable.
- Scan from the Foot pod card, not the treadmill or heart-rate monitor card.
